About Michelle Ezzy
Hi, I am Michelle Ezzy, an intimacy director and coordinator, educator and dancer who believes intimacy should feel authentic, consensual and collaborative, whether created for stage or screen.
I graduated from WAAPA in 2012 with a Music and Education double major. (Classical Trumpet because I do enjoy a dramatic entrance.) After several years teaching Music, English, Science and Art, I moved into Music Theatre education at John Curtin College of the Arts.
My intimacy practice began in community theatre in 2017 and deepened after discovering Chelsea Pace’s incredible book Staging Sex in 2021. I first applied safe intimacy strategies in Emilie La Marquise Du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight and have continued developing this work ever since.
I have completed extensive intimacy training including Intimacy Directors and Coordinators’ Consent Forward Artist Program and Accelerator Program, along with Principal Intimacy Professionals’s Launchpad Phases One and Two which included valuable face to face training in Canada. These programs strengthened my skills in consent processes, choreography, modesty garments and psychological safety and continue to shape the way I facilitate creative work.
I have worked on more than thirty theatre and film productions; in tiny apartments, on cold night shoots in the bush and in rehearsal rooms full of nerves, laughter and creative electricity. I have delivered workshops for a DramaWest conference and the Independent Theatre Association, and I created ‘Script to Stage’ to support consent forward rehearsal culture.
At the centre of my work is a belief that intimacy can be brave, vulnerable and exciting while still being safe, respectful and thoughtfully supported. I aim for actors to feel empowered in their choices and for directors to feel backed in their vision. My approach is grounded in clarity, curiosity and joy, and I bring a calm, collaborative presence to every room, working as a facilitator, creative partner and advocate for processes that feel good for everyone involved.
I am continuing to grow, train and refine this work in 2026, and I am always open to new collaborations. If you have a story that requires care, connection and craft, I would love to join you in the room or on set.
